When she graduated, Perry relocated in New York to search for jobs on television, landing small parts in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent however, her homesickness led her back to California which is where she discovered theatre jobs. She appeared on Broadway as a part of The Other Place with her mother in 2013. The show was directed by Eugene O'Neill. Pulitzer Prize winner Anna Christie as well as Kevin McKidd. This was performed at West Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre Ensemble. Perry starred in nine episodes of ABC's show The Family. In 2017, Perry had an appearance on ABC's political thriller Scandal with her father. She played the younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off show from CBS's The Big Bang Theory was another portrayal by her younger mother. Despite having a family connection to the character she got the role via an audition.
